Artist Mike Carroll writes: This house is on the corner on Lanai Ave. and 9th Street, and is one of my favorites on the Island. I love simple, honest lines of the house and the way the single palm tree has a backdrop of towering Cook Pines. To me, this scene is a perfect example of what makes Lanai "Lanai." The rugged windward coast of Lanai has lured many ships to their doom over the years. In this photograph, Pierce Myers captured a beautiful day with the derelict Navy Fuel Barge, YOGN 42, wrecked in the mid 1950s on the reef, and the island of Molokai in the background.
