"Lanai The Pineapple Kingdom"
In 1926, James Dole debuted the Lanai Plantation of his Hawaiian Pineapple Company, Ltd. On January 31, 1926, Dole and approximately 150 friends, business partners and politicians sailed to Lanai for the day on the S.S. Kilauea, for a tour of the plantation and newly developing city. The Honolulu Advertiser ran a series of articles with photographs after the tour, which are republished under the title "Lanai The Pineapple Kingdom."
A copy of the original publication was kindly donated to the Lanai Culture & Heritage Center by Phillip Sowers and Cory Labang.
