Back at camp a tired group of youth and adult leaders, regained some strength with a good breakfast and began breaking down camp. After a quick swim, it was lunch time, and then we hit the road returning to Lāna‘i City, and home.
Passing Kalaeokahano the canoe was skipping across the waves… Aloha ‘oukou e na makamaka aloha mai nā hono o Pi‘ilani. Lana ka mana’o e hoi koke mai ‘oukou…
E lauhoe mai nā wa‘a… pae aku i ka ‘āina… (Paddle the canoe together, to land on shore).
5:00 am The ‘ohana wa‘a rose early, and began making preparations for return to Maui. When the escort boat arrived at 7:00a, all was ready and in moments, Mo‘okiha o Pi‘ilani was turned around and heading out of Mānele, passing in front of the ancient heiau Kū‘ula at Kaupakuea.
