Oh wow! Thanks to the great planning of Aunty Pam Pilialoha Alconcel and ‘ohana, there was also plenty to eat.

Up with the sun, to take advantage of the nice low tide and calm breezes, haumāna learned about the kuapā of Waia‘ōpae, and put their hands to work with teachers and Pūlama Lāna‘i Culture & Historic Preservation staff, to continue collecting scattered stones and returning them to the ancient wall.

The service-learning initiative embraces the theme of the 2016 Cultural Literacy program – “Hana ka lima, ‘ai ka waha!” (Work of the hands, provides food to be eaten).

Much aloha to many volunteers and the Pūlama Lāna’i Culture & Historic Preservation crew for making the program a great experience for all.
